The Youth and Family Mediation Program offers mediation services to youth (11 and older) and their families. The program uses a co-mediation model, with one teen mediator and one adult. The program also provides peer mediation training and program development assistance to schools. Administrative and direct services costs for clients have been provided by grants from the Clackamas Commission on Children and Families, the Oregon Association for Community Dispute Resolution, and United Way.

Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation
The program provides information about its training and mediation services to interested individuals and groups. To schedule a mediation, a parent and/or youth should call and provide brief information about their needs and when all parties to the mediation have been identified a mediation session can be scheduled. Day and evening appointments are available.

Education/Training
The sessions are led by staff or volunteer mediators. All mediators have completed a 30-hour Basic Mediation and a Youth and Family Mediation training. Staff and volunteer mediators have mediation experience from mediating for the program and/or have experience mediating in other settings. Teen volunteer mediators have mediation experience from working with peer mediation programs in their schools. A top priority of the program is to offer effective and skilled mediation services.
