Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation
As a long standing professional mediator, Chris has a flexible style that can be tailored to your needs and context. He works well with individual parties in highly emotional cases or when attorneys represent their clients. Chris' strength is in helping parties better understand each other and negotiate effectively.
Chris does not mediate cases that require a directive, "settlement conference" approach.

Background
MEDIATION: Chris works with a roster of more than fourteen organizations and accepts ad hoc work, using his experience to facilitate successful resolutions. He is an EEOC contract mediator, and was chosen to facilitate the governor’s task force on medical malpractice insurance. Chris was one of two Oregon mediators selected to help the Postal Service resolve higher-level discrimination complaints and he routinely mediates employment cases for the private sector. He facilitates for teams, helping groups get work done-while getting along.
TRAINING: Chris has educated thousands in conflict management, using an experiential-learning approach to engage participants through interactive activities. He has the prominent role of instructing community volunteers for Portland’s mediation program. Chris is an adjunct faculty member with Marylhurst University.
