Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation
I approach mediation from a practical standpoint: It is my role as mediator to facilitate and educate clients to become empowered to make educated and informed decisions for themselves, their families and their future. I follow a step by step approach: assisting clients to gather relevant information, balance communication, generate options, and when both parties have had their say and been heard, to negotiate a mutually agreeable settlement. I meet with clients together and in separate conference rooms, as they may need.

Background
After 12 years as a litigator, 7 solely in family law, I turned my practice to full-time family law mediation in 1994. I have successfully mediated over 1,000 cases. I am on the executive board of the Oregon Academy of Family Law Practitioners and have and am a Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution. In 1996-97 I, along with a colleage, created the parenting education classes now taught in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties.
