I work full-time with groups and individuals in conflict or seeking to prevent conflict escalation. I provide: Convening and Assessment (prior to interventions); Facilitation (collaborative problem-solving, consensus decision-making, long-range planning efforts, etc.); Organizational dispute system assessment and design; Training/coaching for teams and other groups (conflict resolution, communication, facilitation, teambuilding, etc.); and Mediation - individuals and groups.

I prefer to speak with parties prior to mediation to get a sense of the concerns that need addressing and to discuss options for structuring the mediation session. I usually work with parties together, although I caucus as needed or if the parties request it. I help parties draft mediation agreements and I provide summary reports if needed. I use a facilitative, broad approach to mediation, working at the level of interests.

Background

Prior to establishing a sole proprietorship in 1999, I was a mediator with Hallmark Pacific Group. I also served as the Director of the ADR Department of the Better Business Bureau (Oregon/SW Washington).
For 12 years, I was a speech-language pathologist in the public schools.
