I am a full-time dispute resolution specialist, serving as a mediator and arbitrator. I am listed as one of the 2008 and 2009 Best Lawyers in America in the speciality of Alternative Dispute Resolution. I was awarded the Oregon Mediation Associaton's 2008 Sid Lezak Award for Excellence for outstanding service to the profession of mediation in Oregon.

I am available for private engagements, or through various arbitration and mediation panels.

My background is diverse. I gained broad experience as a general practice attorney from 1975 to 1990, including significant litigation; as a corporate executive and general counsel for a manufacturing company in the early 1990's; as an Oregon Circuit Court Judge Pro-Tem from 1988-2004; and as a mediator and arbitrator since 1993.

Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation

Background
Mediation Experience/Training: · Serve on panels of mediators for U.S. Postal Service Workplace Mediation Program(REDRESS), Portland Metro Association of Realtors (PMAR), and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In addition, I accept private cases. · Have mediated real estate, personal injury, domestic, discrimination, employment, insurance and commercial cases (>333 mediations). · Volunteer mediator for small claims cases in Multnomah County 1995-96. · 32-hours Basic Mediation Training, plus 16-hours Advanced Training for USPS, plus 12 hours Advanced Training for Americans with Disabilities Act, plus various continuing education programs. Bar/ADR Activities: · Oregon Mediation Association - Standards and Practices Committee convenor since 1997, Leadership Committee member, past board member (1996-98 and 2002-2007). · Past-Chair, OSB ADR Section and Multnomah Bar ADR Committee.

Education/Training
Oregon Circuit Court Judge Pro-Tem, 1988-2004; 740 days actual service in 23 counties.

Serve on panels of arbitrators for 10 Oregon counties, Arbitration Service of Portland (ASP), American Arbitration Assoc. (AAA), National Assoc. of Securities Dealers (NASD) and Better Business Bureau (BBB); appointed in 1,750 cases since 1993.
· AAA, BBB and NASD (Basic & Chairperson) arbitration training.

Fee Information
