FAMILY INTEREST GROUP

The Family Mediation Interest Group (FMIG) provides information and support for OMA members who are family mediators or interested in the area of family mediation.

FMIG members may utilize the FMIG listserve as an information source on different topics, notice of changes in areas such as Oregon statutes that may impact family mediation, and upcoming events that may be of interest to family mediators.

FMIG members are active on the State Family Law Advisory Committee that continues to further the development of services to families going through divorce. FMIG has also been active in assisting in changes to Oregon’s Uniform Trial Court Rules regarding qualifications for court connected domestic relations mediators. The FMIG also is active in OMA’s Annual Conference with FMIG members presenting and attending sessions specific to family mediation.

Since FMIG is statewide, OMA’s annual conference is a great opportunity for FMIG members to connect and network. FMIG members in Portland gather every other month to discuss new topics in family mediation. FMIG members in other parts of Oregon often meet informally or in conjunction with a family law group.
