Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation

Tonya's approach is client centered, cooperative, and facilitative utilizing collaborative method if parties desire in a non-threatening and amicable setting. Tonya has been trained to utilize a "strategic toolbox" approach in mediation from master mediator/ trainer Forrest "Woody" Mosten and is flexible depending on the individual needs and dynamics of each unique family.

Background

Tonya is from Del Mar, California and moved to Portland in 1993 to finish her undergraduate degree in Finance with honors. She completed law school in 2001 from Lewis & Clark and passed the Oregon state bar in 2001. Tonya has 10 years of experience working exclusively with family law matters, first clerking while in school and then practicing at a firm. Tonya opened her own family law practice in 2005 and her office is now located in Beaverton off of Cornell Road. Tonya is also a proud mom of a two year old boy and loves to spend time outside with her family doing everything from kiteboarding to mountainbiking, skiing, and kayaking.

BS Finance, 1998 from Portland State University, honors
J.D. Law, 2001 from Lewis and Clark Law School
3 different multi-day collaborative law trainings
Mediation training through Oregon State Bar (2001-2008) and 2-day Conflict Resolution Training (2009)
Intensive 5 day divorce mediation training in May 2010 with Forrest "Woody" Mosten in LA, California.
